General
Most fantasy formula one websites simply allow users to choose drivers and teams from a budget and then see how many points they get for that season. More than F1 encourages users to manage their team and budget throughout the year. This is by allowing users to choose initially but then give them opportunities to upgrade through the year to better drivers, teams and engines.
This is done by signing sponsors, the users position in the leader board (determined by points) determines which sponsors are interested in sponsoring the user's team. The higher the sponsor the more money that they are likely to offer.
With this extra money you can then sign better drivers, engines and teams.
Scoring
The scoring is based on actual race results, the user will be awarded the points that their team members achieved. For example if a user picks the winning team, driver and engine but second place driver they will receive (this assumes the engine supplier on supplies the chosen team.)
Driver 1 - 10 points
Driver 2 - 8 points
Chassis - 20 points
Engine - 20 points
Total 58 points
In order to score points your team must not be in debt at all. If your team is, you will be informed of how many points you could have had if you had more cash.
The ranking is purely based on points.
